Working Techniques and Styles

In the early years of the new millennium I recognized a relationship between mathematics and colour and my painting experienced a brief pause. Having learnt my craft I decided to embark on a bachelor’s of science’s program and to explore this strange world that was mathematics. I did many studies during this period and developed a colour model able to represent all three dimensions of colour on a two-dimensional plane. This model has greatly assisted me in understanding and using colour effectively. These ideas are now appearing throughout my recent work and to my surprise are revealing optical phenomenas which I believe remain unexplored. The work is not computer generated. Instead, as always, it begins with pencil and paper.

For now I have limited my explorations to simple Euclidean geometry but anticipate it will evolve to non-Euclidean geometry and organic form. In the meantime I intend completing my present studies while looking forward to their completion when I can once again dedicate more time to my painting.
